The Apple Lane Early Childhood Care expansion project, occupied in June of 2013, started more than 10 years prior to completion. The Hormel Foundation and Hormel Foods Corporation, along with many other employers and community leaders, recognized the critical importance of superior daily childcare for quality employment recruitment, quality of life, and quality of childhood development and education for the parents of Austin.
Located on the campus of Riverland Community College, the Apple Lane Child Care Center has benefited greatly from its partnership with MnSCU. The college committed to enhancement of existing mechanical and electrical systems in order to accommodate the requirements of the daycare facility, and worked closely with Joseph throughout the project to provide a safe and suitable care facility for the youth of Austin.
The project was completed on time, under budget, and most importantly with zero reported injuries or incidents. Safety was emphasized as the number one priority of Joseph and its vendors; proven by totaling 19,000 man-hours with zero injuries or incidents.
Joseph was recognized with the Pyramid Award for Excellence in Construction from the Associated Builders and Contractors of America for this project.
